Located on a typical lot in an established inner-city neighbourhood, the Elbow Park residence challenges the traditional suburban architectural standard of maximizing the front and rear facades.

The initial massing of the home is driven by the idea of preserving existing mature trees and allowing for maximum exposure to southern sun. Programmatic elements are then inserted to create two unique volumes stacked vertically. The resulting architecture creates an unconventional interpretation of a rear yard while celebrating views to the existing vegetation and blurring the boundaries of interior and exterior space.
