Riverside House

Project Overview

The architecture is clearly shaped by the river valley and the lot geometry. The pie-shaped lot suggested a building that is broad across the back with tapering wings that stretch toward the road. This creates a courtyard entry opportunity, while maximizing views to the spectacular river valley.

Internally, the primary spaces on the main floor are divided in plan by a strong vertical fireplace and stair element. On the second floor, the sky-bridge segregates the master wing from the children’s rooms. The home is further segregated in section by raising the kitchen area to look over the lowered informal and formal living areas.

Most furniture is custom designed to accommodate the unique geometries of the residence. The palette is clean, light and neutral, allowing the spectacular river valley landscape to infuse every room with natural warmth and life.
