The primary goal for the Scarborough House project was the comprehensive transformation of a tired 1980s traditional home into a functional, contemporary residence. Key exterior interventions drove this change: we redesigned the window pattern with more modern proportions and placements, introduced new front and rear decks to improve outdoor living, and added a contemporary canopy structure. These elements, combined with updated material choices, fundamentally shifted the home's character and street presence.
Internally, the renovation focused on creating bright, clean spaces with improved functionality, particularly evident in the expanded and reconfigured top-floor master suite. This area now features dramatic vaulted ceilings and distinctive geometric windows, maximizing natural light in spaces like the master bathroom and adjacent office/flex space. Consistent use of warm wood cabinetry and built-ins provides warmth and visual coherence, contrasting effectively with the clean white walls and countertops seen throughout the kitchen, bathrooms, and custom storage solutions.
Through these strategic exterior and interior renovations, the Scarborough House was successfully reimagined. The redesigned windows, enhanced outdoor connections via new decks and canopy, and the revitalized master suite, all unified by a contemporary material palette, result in a multi-layered and cohesive modern home that meets the current needs and aesthetic preferences of its occupants, far removed from its 1980s origins.
